Festac Town, Lagos

A large, well-organised planned estate in Amuwo-Odofin LGA, built for the 1977 FESTAC festival and still one of Lagos's most popular middle-class residential areas.

Festac Town was built to house participants in FESTAC '77 — the Second World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture — and its grid-planned layout of numbered roads and closes has made it one of the mainland's most legible and popular estates ever since. It sits within Amuwo-Odofin LGA, close to Mile 2 and the Trade Fair complex.
